Foreign Minister receives GCC Secretary General

Manama, Aug. 30 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting discussed the GCC General Secretariat’s efforts to advance joint Gulf action and strengthen integration and cooperation among GCC states across all areas, in line with the directives of the GCC leaders, and in support of the aspirations and prosperity of the people of the GCC.

In light of Bahrain’s presidency of the current session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the two sides reviewed the agenda of the 168th session of the GCC Ministerial Council, scheduled to be held next September at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.  They also exchanged views on regional developments and GCC states’ efforts to safeguard regional security and stability and protect their vital interests.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Nawar Abdullah Al Mutawa, Acting Chief of GCC Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Secretary-General’s accompanying delegation.
