President Zhaparov receives AIIB President Zou Jiayi
Bishkek, Feb. 12, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, February 12, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov received Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank(AIIB) President Zou Jiayi.
The parties discussed prospects for jointly implementing large-scale projects aimed at industrializing the country, developing transport and logistics links, and strengthening Kyrgyzstan's transit potential, as well as supporting priority initiatives in agriculture and energy.
Head of state noted that Kyrgyzstan views industrialization as one of the vectors of development and strengthening the country's position in the global economy. He emphasized the importance of developing high-value-added industries, expanding processing, and modernizing industry, inviting the AIIB to actively cooperate in this area.
President Sadyr Zhaparov also emphasized the development of transport infrastructure and logistics, emphasizing the strategic goal of establishing Kyrgyzstan as a regional hub. He noted that the implementation of infrastructure projects in this area will enhance the country's competitiveness and create additional opportunities for economic growth.
In his speech, President also identified eliminating the electricity shortage as a priority, noting plans to increase generation, modernize energy infrastructure, and improve energy efficiency.
He emphasized that the implementation of large-scale projects in this area is of strategic importance for Kyrgyzstan. Furthermore, head of state noted the importance of investments in road infrastructure aimed at improving transport accessibility and regional development, and invited the AIIB to further expand its partnership on priority projects.
In turn, AIIB President Zou Jiayi noted that the AIIB views Kyrgyzstan as a key strategic partner, emphasizing that the country is one of the Bank's founding countries. She praised the country's economic policies and noted the sustainable dynamics of socioeconomic development.
Zou Jiayi confirmed the AIIB's readiness to continue financing ongoing projects and support new initiatives aligned with Kyrgyzstan's priorities. She noted the importance of cooperation in infrastructure development, transport and logistics links, expanding trade and investment, and supporting the private sector.
Particular attention was paid to the Kambarata HPP-1 construction project. AIIB head emphasized its importance for strengthening the country's energy security and expressed the Bank's readiness to consider participating in financing.
Furthermore, Zou Jiayi stated that the Bank is ready to explore opportunities to support the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, expecting specific proposals from the Kyrgyz side for further development.
In conclusion, she noted that AIIB intends to continue to consider financial mechanisms and instruments to support Kyrgyzstan's development and the implementation of priority projects.
