Malaysia-Qatar Book Exchange Initiative To Deepen Cultural, Educational Ties
DOHA, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Qatar are deepening cultural and educational ties through a book exchange initiative between the National Library of Malaysia and Qatar National Library (QNL), according to the Malaysian Embassy in Doha.
Malaysian Ambassador to Qatar Datuk Faizal Razali met QNL President Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari on Sept 6 to formalise the initiative and explore further areas of cooperation between the two institutions.
“Dr Al-Kawari welcomed the book exchange initiative by the National Library of Malaysia and viewed it as a practical step towards strengthening cultural, educational and people-to-people relations between Malaysia and Qatar.
“A total of 12 books covering various fields, including culture, history and heritage, were exchanged. Of the 10 books provided by the National Library of Malaysia, the Embassy contributed two publications from the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia,” the embassy said in a statement.
The initiative, organised in conjunction with Malaysia’s Independence Day and Malaysia Day 2026 celebrations, provides a platform for the two libraries to exchange knowledge and showcase their countries’ cultural, historical and heritage narratives.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss broader cooperation between the National Library of Malaysia and QNL, the embassy added.
