Iran unveils new domestically-developed antivirus software

Tehran, IRNA – Simultaneously with ELECOMP 2026, the country's largest exhibition for electronics, computer technologies, and e-commerce, Iran unveiled its second homegrown antivirus software, dubbed Ayyza, using artificial intelligence and machine learning to detect an unknown malware and unidentified cyber threats.

A group of senior officials from security, defense, cyberspace, and knowledge-based firms attended the unveiling ceremony of the new national antivirus software on the sidelines of the 29th edition of the ELECOMP Exhibition, held from 31 August to 3 September in Tehran.  

Ayyza combines XDR, EDR, and antivirus technologies in a single security ecosystem and is designed to provide a local, specialized solution to threats against the country's infrastructure and digital assets.

The software is another piece of evidence of Iran’s growing scientific know-how and its progressive path to building the country’s cyber resilience and self-reliance, in a situation where digital-based economic, banking, industrial, communication, and service activities necessitate the protection of cyber infrastructure more than ever.

Antivirus, as one of the basic layers of cyber defense, is at the forefront of identifying and combating malware, and Ayyza is part of Iran’s new strategic documents in the field of passive defense that emphasize reliance on domestic capabilities, the development of indigenous products, and reducing dependence on foreign technologies.

The Ayyza software is the outcome of investing in knowledge, specialized human resources, and domestic engineering capabilities, and its launch can be seen as a sign of the country’s cybersecurity industry moving from a consumer to designer and developer of strategic products.

ELECOMP 2026 was held with the presence of more than 350 participants in 14 exhibition halls and covered areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software and hardware, digital services and innovative businesses.
