Foreign Minister: Humanitarian diplomacy is a Bahraini approach to strengthening international solidarity, supporting peace and sustainable development

Manama, Sep. 7 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the International Human Rights Affairs Committee, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has established a firmly rooted humanitarian and diplomatic approach based on solidarity and international cooperation, contributing to building a world founded on justice, compassion, coexistence and prosperity.

Marking the International Day of Charity, Dr. Al Zayani expressed his pride in the Kingdom’s pioneering initiatives to advance charitable work, rooted in its noble religious and humanitarian values and the approach of His Majesty the King. He noted Bahrain’s recognition of the close interconnection between solidarity, peace and stability, and the achievement of sustainable development for all.

Dr. Al Zayani commended the pioneering role of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) in supporting those most in need and implementing relief and development projects in several countries and affected areas. He said these efforts reflect the vision of His Majesty the King, Honorary President of the RHF, with the support and follow-up of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, as well as the Kingdom’s longstanding approach to supporting humanitarian action and promoting social solidarity and cooperation.

He highlighted Bahrain’s diplomatic and humanitarian efforts at the regional and international levels. Among the most notable are its call, during its presidency of the 2024 Arab Summit, the "Bahrain Summit," to provide educational and healthcare services to those affected by conflicts, as well as its support for the implementation of the comprehensive peace plan in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the continued flow of humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts. He also highlighted Bahrain’s pioneering initiatives in humanitarian service, peaceful coexistence, youth empowerment, women’s leadership and support for the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Al Zayani noted that, through its non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term and its active participation in regional and international organisations, the Kingdom continues to contribute to strengthening international peace and security and supporting collective responses to humanitarian challenges. This includes providing relief and development assistance to people affected by disasters and crises, and advancing political and diplomatic solutions to conflicts that protect civilians, uphold international law and international humanitarian law, and support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

He affirmed that, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain will continue to use its diplomatic efforts and humanitarian and international partnerships to serve humanity, promote peace and global solidarity, and strengthen multilateral cooperation. He noted that these efforts reinforce the role of charitable and humanitarian work in bringing peoples closer together, supporting peace and development, and contributing to a more humane, secure, stable and prosperous world.
