Higher Education Council Sec-Gen participates in semi-annual meeting of Union of Arab Research Councils

Manama, Sep. 9 (BNA): Dr. Diana Abdulkareem Al Jahromi, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council (HEC), participated in the semi-annual meeting of the Union of Arab Research Councils, chaired by the Sultanate of Oman, with the participation of officials and representatives of research councils and bodies in the Arab world, in addition to the Union of Arab Research Councils affiliated with the League of Arab States.

The meeting discussed the launch of several research awards, the expansion of research and innovation networks with the participation of thousands of Arab researchers, as well as strategic initiatives and projects. It also discussed mechanisms for activating the Arab Scientific Exchange Programme and the Arab Green Innovation Programme, and strengthening specialised scientific networks to support researchers and innovators in the region.

The meeting also addressed coordination for the Kingdom of Bahrain to host the next session of the council's meetings, scheduled to be held in December 2026.

The meeting was held as part of efforts to strengthen Arab cooperation and coordination in scientific research and innovation, exchange expertise and experiences, and support research and innovation pathways that contribute to advancing scientific research and developing the higher education system in the Arab world.
