Bahrain-UN Joint Steering Committee reviews implementation of Strategic Partnership Framework

Manama, Sep. 9 (BNA): Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director-General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired the first meeting of the Joint Steering Committee between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations for the current year.

The meeting was attended by Khaled El Mekwad, UN Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Bahrain, representatives of a number of government ministries, authorities and national institutions, and representatives of the United Nations Country Team.

Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with the United Nations through the implementation of the Strategic Partnership Framework for 2025–2029. He highlighted the framework’s contribution to accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and supporting Bahrain’s comprehensive development process, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The meeting reviewed the outcomes of the consultative workshops held for the joint outcome groups comprising government entities and the United Nations Country Team. The workshops were hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in June.

The meeting also reviewed the latest developments in cooperation between the two sides and discussed ways to advance the implementation of the Strategic Partnership Framework.

Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali received the 2025 Annual Report of the United Nations Country Team from the UN Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
