New Fireproof Paint Developed

Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- According to Minju Joson, scientists and researchers of the May 28 Metal Research Institute under the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry in the DPRK developed new fireproof paint and established its production process in cooperation with technicians of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex.
They succeeded in developing a material with refractoriness of over 1 000 degrees Celsius without being washed out by molten iron and obtained a binder and auxiliary additive in conformity with the actual conditions.
Through several trial production, technicians of the Blast Furnace Shop No. 1 of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex proved that the newly developed fireproof paint extends the serviceable life of fire-resisting material.
The Steel Shop No. 2 introduced this fireproof paint to increase the serviceable life of the refractory four times, while preventing the attaching of molten iron to submerged nozzle. -0-
