OIC ROUNDTABLE MEETING ON VARSITIES' CAPACITY BUILDING
KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 (Bernama) - Malaysia will host a roundtable meeting of
quality assurance agencies of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC)
member countries on capacity building in universities in November.
Higher Education Minister Mohd Khaled Nordin said Malaysia would share its
institutions of higher learning's quality assurance strategy and the basic
framework that it had formulated in 2007 at the two-day roundtable starting Nov
13.
"The time has come for us to compare notes and help each other achieve
progress in our education systems," he told reporters after opening the Higher
Education Strategic Planning and Quality Assurance Conference in the Islamic
World here Monday.
The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) has been tasked with helping
universities in 52 Islamic countries to enhance their quality assurance systems.
"Every country needs to have its own universities' quality assurance system
that hinges on the capability of its people in helping to chart the growth of
the country," he said.
Mohd Khaled said Malaysia would also hold the fifth Islamic Conference of
Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research in October next year.
