Song Kuk Hyang - One of DPRK's Ten Best Sportspersons of 2025

 Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- Song Kuk Hyang, a woman weightlifter of the April 25 Combat Sports Team in the DPRK, is one of the DPRK's ten best sportspersons of 2025.
She bettered the world and Asian records in the clean and jerk and total in the women's 71kg category of the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships, and thus became the best player at the championships. And she won three gold medals and set three new world records in the women's 69kg category of the 2025 IWF World Championships.
Born in Unchon County, South Hwanghae Province, the DPRK, she began to learn weightlifting basic skills at the age of 12.
She proved successful at the 2017 Asian Junior and Juvenile Weightlifting Championship, the 19th Asian Games and other international sporting events.
In particular, she bagged six gold medals at the 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships and the 2024 IWF World Championships, drawing attention of the weightlifting circles.
