Riyadh to Host Press Briefing on UNESCO Global Forum on AI Ethics

   Riyadh, September 13, 2026, SPA -- Senior officials from the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), UNESCO, and the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) will meet Monday at an international press briefing at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh to announce details of the fourth edition of the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI.
   Hosted by Saudi Arabia from September 14 to 17, 2026, the forum will provide a global platform for dialogue on the future of responsible AI and its governance to help protect humanity in the technological sphere.
   The press briefing will be attended by SDAIA President Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, UNESCO Deputy Director-General Åsa Regnér, and ICAIRE Acting Director-General Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Shehri.
   The speakers will address the most prominent issues to be discussed by international participants at the forum, at a time when the world is witnessing rapid and unprecedented developments in AI capabilities and applications. These developments raise questions and challenges that transcend national borders, requiring enhanced international cooperation to develop shared visions that ensure the responsible and safe development and use of these technologies for the benefit of humanity.
   Over four days, the forum will bring together decision-makers, experts, academics, representatives of international organizations, public and private sector officials, and CEOs of global technology companies to discuss the future of AI ethics and governance. Participants will explore how ethical and regulatory frameworks can keep pace with rapid technological development and translate principles into practical policies and practices that balance accelerating innovation with safeguarding human values.
