Prabowo welcomed in Jordan with F-16 escort, royal ceremony

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto received a ceremonial escort from a Royal Jordanian Air Force F‑16 fighter jet before landing in Amman on Tuesday evening (Feb. 24).

The gesture underscored the close ties and mutual respect between Indonesia and Jordan, a statement from the Presidential Media Team in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Prabowo arrived at Marka Military Airport at 8:00 p.m. local time, where he was welcomed by Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and an honor guard.

Also present were Indonesian Ambassador Ade Padmo Sarwono and Defense Attaché Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin.

The reception highlighted both nations’ commitment to strengthening cooperation in education, defense, agriculture, and regional issues in the Middle East.

Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

On Wednesday, Prabowo is scheduled to meet King Abdullah II ibn Al‑Hussein at Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman.

The bilateral talks will be the centerpiece of his two‑day visit, marking his second meeting with the Jordanian monarch after his first state visit in April 2025.

Discussions are expected to focus on advancing strategic cooperation and addressing global geopolitical challenges, particularly recovery efforts in Gaza.

Indonesia and Jordan, both members of the Board of Peace, have been actively engaged in supporting a permanent ceasefire and advocating for Palestinian independence.

Other members of the Board include the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt.
