Al-Araji, Russian Ambassador Discuss Regional Developments, Bilateral Cooperation

BAGHDAD / NINA / — National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister Qasim al-Araji met with Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev to discuss the latest political and security developments in the region and their repercussions on Iraq’s security and stability.
The meeting also addressed Iraqi-Russian relations and ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation in areas of mutual interest, according to a statement issued by al-Araji’s office.
Al-Araji emphasized that “Iraq is closely monitoring regional and international developments and is working to protect its security and national interests, consolidate stability, and prioritize dialogue and political solutions in addressing crises, in a manner that preserves the sovereignty of states and prevents the escalation of tension and conflict in the region.”
For his part, the Russian ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Iraq, supporting its security and stability, and further developing bilateral relations in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries. /End
