Pakistani envoy calls for boosting scientific ties on a visit to Sharif University of Technology in Tehran

Tehran, IRNA — Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, while visiting Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, has emphasized expanding scientific and technological collaboration between the two countries’ higher academic institutions.

Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, accompanied by a delegation from the embassy, paid a visit to the pioneer Iranian university on Tuesday to interact with academics and students, as well as to get familiar with its educational, research, industrial, and technological achievements.

Siddiqui was briefed about the state of affairs during a meeting attended by University President Masoud Tajrishi, Vice President for Research and Technology Mohammad Reza Movahedi, Director of International Affairs Hamed Sadeghi, several faculty members, and directors of the research centers.

Potential areas for cooperation, such as artificial intelligence (AI), energy, water, and the environment, were examined during the meeting, in which a report was also presented on the ongoing scientific and research collaborations between Sharif University’s faculty and researchers and their counterparts in Pakistani universities and scientific centers.

Discussions also focused on the role of Sharif University of Technology in developing a regional scientific cooperation network and organizing joint specialized programs and meetings, while outlining opportunities for cooperation in the AI field under the framework of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform.

Pointing to historical, civilizational, and cultural ties between Iran and Pakistan, the university president emphasized the potential of these relations to foster scientific and technological cooperation.

The Pakistani envoy, for his part, expressed appreciation for the university’s hospitality and satisfaction with the extensive scientific cooperation between researchers from both nations.
