Egypt, Malaysia Seek To Strengthen Deep-Rooted Ties

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- Egypt and Malaysia continue to strengthen their deep-rooted historical ties, with a focus on close cooperation in religious and cultural affairs.

Egyptian Minister of Religious Endowments Prof Dr Usama Al Sayed Al Azhary, in a statement posted on his Facebook page, said the close ties between the two countries, founded on shared history and a spirit of brotherhood, should continue to be preserved and strengthened.

“At the same time, we hope that the ongoing cooperation between the two countries will continue for the mutual benefit of both sides,” he said when attending a Malaysia Day celebration hosted by the Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo on Sept 16 at the invitation of the embassy.

Usama, who was received by Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt Datuk Mohd Tarid Sufian, also expressed appreciation for the communication and bonds of friendship between the peoples of the two countries, while expressing hope that existing cooperation would continue and expand into various fields.

His presence at the celebration reflected Egypt’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and people-to-people relations between Egypt and Malaysia.
