  Oana At 65: Collective Effort Needed To Navigate Evolving Global Media Landscape — Bernama CEO

MOSCOW, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chief Executive Officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin has extended her congratulations to the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) on its 65th anniversary.

She said OANA, which comprises 41 member news agencies from 35 countries, must collectively explore the evolving global media landscape.

In conjunction with OANA's 65th anniversary, Nur-ul Afida expressed hope that the organisation would continue to thrive.

"I wish all member agencies continued success in navigating the evolving global media landscape," she said in a special address in conjunction with OANA's 65th anniversary here on Monday.

Also present was Bernama Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.

Nur-ul Afida and Arul Rajoo later attended the plenary session titled “Building a Sustainable Media Community, and the Role of the Organisation in Shaping the Future of the Region’s Information Space”, moderated by OANA Secretary-General and TASS Deputy Director-General Marat Abulkhatin.

Among the speakers were OANA President and TASS Director-General Andrey Kondrashov, ANO "Dialog" Director-General and GFCN President Vladimir Tabak, and Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova.

Earlier, Nur-ul Afida and Arul Rajoo attended the OANA Photo Exhibition Ceremony, "History and Development: 65 Years of Information Exchange in the Asia-Pacific Region", officiated by Kondrashov.

On Sunday (Sept 20), Nur-ul Afida and Arul Rajoo attended the 58th OANA Executive Board Meeting (EBM) and Technical Committee meeting, as Bernama is a member of OANA’s Executive Board.

OANA was established in 1961 on the initiative of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) to facilitate direct and free news exchange among news agencies in a region that accounts for over half of the world's population.
