Ambassador to Canada and Resident in Washington meets Canadian Assistant Deputy Minister for Europe, Arctic and Middle East Affairs

Ottawa, Sep. 21 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Canada and Resident Ambassador in Washington, met with Alexander Leveque, Assistant Deputy Minister for Europe, Arctic and Middle East Affairs at Global Affairs Canada, during the Ambassador’s official visit to Canada.

The meeting reviewed the close bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. The Ambassador underscored the importance of building on the progress achieved in bilateral cooperation and coordination to create promising opportunities that contribute to the growth and prosperity of the two countries and their peoples.

The Ambassador commended the recent visit of Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, to the Kingdom of Bahrain, which reflected the depth of relations between Bahrain and Canada. He also expressed appreciation for Canada’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC countries in response to the Iranian attacks, and praised Canada’s efforts in support of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s initiatives at the United Nations Security Council concerning developments in the region.

The Ambassador also welcomed the successful strategic dialogue between the GCC countries and Canada, which resulted in the Joint Action Plan for 2025–2029, establishing an institutional framework for GCC-Canada cooperation aimed at deepening collaboration, advancing shared objectives, and supporting efforts to promote security, stability, and development in the region and beyond.
