DPRK Championships Open

 Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Championships opened with due ceremony at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street here on Tuesday.
The championships will bring together sports clubs and teams and sports education units in the capital city and local areas including the April 25 Sports Team, the Amnokgang Sports Club, the Pyongyang Sports Club, the Ryongaksan Taekwon-Do Team, the Chongchongang Sports Club, the Sports Club under the Ministry of Land and Marine Transport and Korea University of Physical Education.
They will compete in more than 550 categories of 30-odd events such as football, basketball, volleyball, table-tennis, track-and-field, gymnastics, boxing, weightlifting and Taekwon-Do.
Present at the opening ceremony were officials of the sports field, sportspersons and Pyongyang citizens.
A marching in file of the players was followed by games of Teqball men's doubles and mixed doubles.
The events of the DPRK Championships will be held in Pyongyang Municipality and Phyongsong and Sariwon cities. -0-
