Saudi Arabia Wins Six International Medals at 2026 Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics

   Riyadh, September 28, 2026, SPA -- The Saudi Informatics Team won six international medals at the 19th Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (JBOI), held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with students representing 13 countries.
   Saudi students won four silver and two bronze medals in the country's first official participation in the JBOI. The participation was part of the Mawhiba International Olympiad Program, implemented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in partnership with the Ministry of Education. All members of the Saudi team earned medals.
   Before taking part in the JBOI, the students underwent an extensive training and qualification process that included a series of training camps and selection competitions to assess their performance and select the top performers. They also participated in simulation competitions designed to develop problem-solving skills and algorithmic thinking strategies as part of a journey spanning two to four years, gradually preparing them for regional and international competitions.
