MWL Participates in Alliance of Civilizations Group of Friends Meeting

   Makkah, September 28, 2026, SPA -- On behalf of Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Assistant to the Secretary-General for Communication and International Cooperation Abdulwahab bin Mohammed Al-Shehri participated in the annual high-level meeting of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Group of Friends.
   The meeting was attended by the alliance's High Representative, several foreign ministers and diplomats from the Group of Friends, and representatives of international and religious organizations.
   Al-Shehri delivered a speech outlining the MWL's positions on several issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. He highlighted the importance of moving dialogue from principles to action and impactful partnerships, showcasing the MWL's efforts in education, interfaith dialogue, and promoting peace within communities.
   Al-Shehri stressed the urgent need to protect civilians in Gaza, bring their suffering to an immediate end, and ensure that the Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights. Foremost among these, he said, is the right to establish an independent, sovereign Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, as the only path to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
