Every year on the seventh of the Iranian calendar month of Mehr, the role of firefighters is commemorated, a profession built on courage and self-sacrifice.

Firefighters enter dangerous situations with remarkable devotion to keep others safe. Their work is more than just extinguishing fires; they symbolize hope, security, and sacrifice. On September 29, 1980, when the Ba’athist enemy attacked the Abadan Refinery from the air, firefighters went in to contain the flames.

During the operation, Iraqi planes bombarded the refinery again, killing many of these dedicated firefighters.
