Islamic University Achieves Largest Leap Among Saudi Universities in THE World University Rankings 2027

Madinah, October 05, 2026, SPA -- The Islamic University of Madinah has achieved a significant leap in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027, moving from the 1001–1200 global band in the 2026 rankings to the 701–800 band in the 2027 rankings.
The university climbed 258 global places, helping boost the average national performance of Saudi universities in this ranking cycle. It ranked third globally in the magnitude of advancement among universities previously in the top 1,100 in the 2026 rankings.
At the local level, the university rose six places among all Saudi public and private universities, moving from 24th to 18th place, and advanced eight places among Saudi public universities, moving from 21st to 13th place.
Globally, among Islamic universities, the university advanced from eighth to fifth place, surpassing several other Islamic institutions. This achievement reflects its commitment to pursuing its strategic goal of becoming the world’s leading Islamic university by 2030.
The university emphasized that this milestone serves as an impetus to strive for even higher global rankings and to strengthen its standing as an academic institution with a universal Islamic mission contributing to creation, human development, and community service.
