Thailand Gears Up to Host 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings

BANGKOK, Oct 6 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed all government agencies to ensure seamless preparation for the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings, aiming to boost foreign investment and strengthen economic confidence.
Speaking while chairing the national preparatory committee meeting, Anutin emphasized the importance of hosting the event, which is expected to draw over 10,000 delegates from around the world.
The Prime Minister ordered strict oversight of entry procedures, immigration processing, and airport facilitation to prevent operational bottlenecks, such as flight delays and baggage handling disruptions. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow also attended the meeting.
Government agencies were instructed to cover all operational aspects, including protocol, security, public health services, and communications, to bolster Thailand's international reputation and maximize economic benefits.
Anutin noted that key economic indicators remain positive, citing stable sovereign credit ratings from major rating agencies, improved import figures, and strong agricultural exports, which are expected to support overall gross domestic product (GDP) growth. -819 (TNA)
