DPRK Players Return Home after Taking Part in Taekwon-Do World Cup Games-2026

 Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- The Taekwon-Do World Cup Games-2026 took place in Kazakhstan from September 27 to October 2.
The games brought together more than 890 players and coaches from 24 countries and regions including the DPRK, Russia and Tajikistan. DPRK players won 41 medals including 26 gold medals.
The DPRK players came first in men's and women's team pattern competitions in the senior category, men's team pattern competitions in the youth category and women's team sparring matches in the senior category.
Kim Il Hyok placed first in men's individual pattern competition, Ryu Kyong, Kim Ji Hong and Pak Nyom Won in women's individual pattern competitions in the senior category and Kim Phyong Il, Tong Chung Mu and Yun Jang Won in men's individual pattern competitions in the youth category.
Kim Wi Song, Ryu Song Guk, Kim Il Hyok and Kim Ju Il came first in men's individual sparring matches in the senior category, Ryu Kyong, Pak Sol Mi, Han So Yon, Kim Ryu Gyong, Min Hye Gyong, Pak Nyom Won and Kang Chol Ok in women's individual sparring matches in the senior category and Kim Phyong Il, Mun Nam Hun, Hwang Ui Song and Kim Jong Ung in men's individual sparring matches in the youth category.
The DPRK players, who glorified the honor of the country in the games, were warmly greeted at Pyongyang Railway Station on Oct. 6 by Kim Kum Chol, secretary general of the Cabinet, officials concerned and officials of the Korean Taekwon-Do Committee, sportspersons and families of the players.
Sportspersons put garlands around the necks of the players and coaches and gave bouquets to them, congratulating their successes. -0-
