Kim Il Sung Prize Conferred on Composer

 Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Kim Il Sung Prize was conferred on Sol Thae Song, head of a creation department of the State Merited Chorus, who composed the famous song of the times, "Song about the Country", which is very popular among all the people of the DPRK.
Sol Thae Song, who grew up to be a well-known composer and creative worker under the care of the Workers' Party of Korea, created many famous songs, including "Ode to the Motherland", "We Love Our Country" and "Song to the Motherly Party", to greatly encourage the patriotic struggle of the Korean people and contribute to enriching the treasure house of the Juche-oriented musical art.
In particular, "Song about the County" is a masterpiece of national treasure as it impressively sings the great pride in our great country and all-people thoughts and feelings to always love and glorify the dignified DPRK with all the devoted efforts.
A ceremony was held on October 9 to award Kim Il Sung Prize to People's Artist Sol Thae Song.
Present there were Ju Chang Il, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Hyong Sik, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, and officials, creators and artistes of the State Merited Chorus.
After the decree of the SPA Standing Committee of the DPRK was read out, Kim Il Sung Prize was awarded to Sol Thae Song.
Resolution-taking speeches were made at the ceremony.
The speakers said with deep emotion that the rare wisdom and outstanding leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who has ushered in a new era of great dignity and prosperity to be warmly sung by our creators and artistes and provides precious guidelines for the creation of famous songs, serve as an inexhaustible driving force for producing famous songs welcomed by the country and the people.
They pledged to more thoroughly apply the WPK's idea and theory on Juche-oriented art and literature to the art creation activities and thus to create lots of famous songs highly praising the dignity and honor of the great Party and the great country. -0-
