KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, Monday conferred the Darjah Utama Seri Mahkota Negara (DMN) on Jordan's King Abdullah II, who is on a two-day state visit to Malaysia.
King Abdullah II received the honour at a special investiture ceremony at Dewan Seri Maharaja, Istana Negara, following a private meeting with Sultan Ibrahim.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Hasan and other dignitaries.
Also present were Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, along with senior officials from the Hashemite Royal Court and the Jordanian Government.
The DMN, gazetted on Aug 21, 1958, is among Malaysia's federal honours that may be conferred on an honorary basis upon kings, sultans, queens, princes, princesses and foreign heads of state.
Earlier, King Abdullah II was accorded a state welcome at the Istana Negara parade ground as part of his visit, which began yesterday.
