Significant Day in History of WPK

 Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- October 17, 1926 is recorded as a significant day in the history of the DPRK.
On this day the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU), the root of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the banner of victory of our revolution, was formed.
The DIU formed by President Kim Il Sung set it as its immediate task to down with Japanese imperialism and achieve Korea's liberation and independence, and its final goal was to build socialism and communism in Korea and, furthermore, defeat all imperialists and build communism in the world.
The formation of the DIU was a starting point for founding a Juche-type revolutionary party in our country.
The programme of the DIU served as the basis of our party's programme, the principle of independence set forth by the DIU as the principle of party building and activities, and the revolutionaries of the new generation trained by the DIU became the backbone of party founding.
A revolutionary party of the working class could be founded after liberation, based on this deep and strong historical root, and our people could victoriously advance the revolution and construction under the leadership of the Party in the past.
Today the WPK is further developing into the great Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist party and a promising and militant party under the guidance of respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un who is carrying forward the tradition of the DIU as the lifeline and eternal cornerstone of the Korean revolution.
In his lecture given on October 17, 2022 when visiting the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea, the General Secretary clarified the orientation of party building in the new era, opening up a new heyday in strengthening the whole party with the significant day marking the 96th anniversary of the formation of the DIU as a starting point and indicating the way for developing our party into a promising socialist ruling party. -0-
