NovusCrete Consortium Wins First Place Globally at the American Concrete Institute Awards

Riyadh, October 18, 2026, SPA -- The NovusCrete Consortium has achieved a major global milestone by winning first place in the "Flatwork" category at the international American Concrete Institute (ACI) Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards.
The annual awards gala brings together top leaders, decision-makers, and experts from around the world to celebrate innovation and excellence in concrete design and construction across eight distinct categories. The "Flatwork" category specifically honors innovative concrete projects defined by horizontal concrete surfaces, such as pavements, parking lots, runways, and commercial or industrial floors.
Led by the Oil Sustainability Program (OSP), this strategic consortium comprises a network of leading local and international entities, including the PIF, the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC), NEOM, Sika, ClimateCrete, Saudi Readymix Concrete Co, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), and King Saud University (KSU).
NovusCrete is a first-of-its-kind global initiative established to drive innovation and achieve sustainable development in the construction sector, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. Founded on January 26, 2025, the consortium aims to reduce the construction industry's carbon footprint and water consumption, extend the lifespan of structures, cut production costs, and strengthen local value chains by localizing advanced engineering technologies to meet future demands.
The consortium focuses on developing and accelerating the adoption of sustainable concrete solutions manufactured using seawater and innovative local materials. This includes glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebars and recycled materials sourced from construction and demolition waste. Furthermore, consortium members actively work to enable and expand the scope of these applications across the construction sector, including leading efforts to develop national standards and building codes for seawater concrete usage.
