KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- The modernisation of passenger travel processes in the aviation sector using digital identity and biometrics, as well as decarbonisation strategies for the transportation sector, will be among the main focuses of the Transport Expo Asia (TXA) 2026 programme, which officially begins at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) Tuesday.
The Ministry of Transport (MOT) said on Monday that the international-standard expo, which runs until Oct 22, brings together players in the transportation industry to showcase the latest technologies, innovations, and solutions in the transportation and logistics sector.
According to the statement, the official opening ceremony of TXA2026 will be officiated by the Transport Minister Anthony Loke, with a welcome speech by the MOT secretary-general Jana Santhiran Muniayan.
In addition to the transformation of digital identity for aviation through the session "One ID, From Vision to Reality: Transforming the Passenger Journey with Digital Identity and Biometrics," the expo also focuses on efforts to reduce carbon emissions through the Transport Strategy Forum 2026 themed "Decarbonising Transport: From Cleaner Fuels to Practical Implementation."
"The forum will discuss cleaner fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and low-carbon marine fuels, as well as infrastructure readiness and the implementation of low-carbon transportation," according to the statement.
For the maritime sector, the organisation of Maritime Forum 2.0 aims to review and reform the country's maritime laws, the development of the bunkering industry, and the integration of smart technology and automation to enhance safety levels.
According to the statement, the TXA2026 programme, preceded by today's pre-opening programme, concluded the International Air Transport Association (IATA) workshop and the first day of the Road Safety Congress 2026 (RSC), which discussed road user behaviour and the formation of evidence-based policies.
