39 Hospitalized Following Fire at Canada's Wainwright Military Base

Alberta, October 19, 2026, SPA -- A total of 39 people were hospitalized, at least 19 of them in critical condition, following a deadly fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said Sunday that the injured were transported from the military base to four hospitals across Alberta, noting that some suffered severe burns and could face weeks or months of intensive treatment.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had earlier confirmed that four military personnel were killed in the fire, which broke out Saturday during a military training exercise.
