Arab Sports Law Conference Calls for Updating Sports Legislation

Cairo, October 20, 2026, SPA -- The Fifth Arab Sports Law Conference recommended updating sports legislation across Arab countries to align with international regulations, strengthening governance and transparency, improving mechanisms for resolving sports-related disputes, and establishing an Arab center for sports arbitration to address disputes involving Arab sports institutions, organizations, and competitions.
The recommendations were issued at the conclusion of the conference, organized by the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) under the theme “The Future of Sports Arbitration in Light of Developments in FIFA Regulations and European Jurisprudence.”
The conference underscored the importance of digital transformation in the sports sector, promoting investment, privatization, and public-private partnerships, and combating corruption and competition manipulation.
It tasked ARADO with developing a guidebook on sports governance, establishing a platform for exchanging expertise, and implementing specialized training programs for arbitrators to advance Arab sports arbitration centers.
The conference also called for strengthening Arab cooperation in sports arbitration and improving legal and institutional procedures to safeguard rights and ensure contractual stability across the sports sector.
