Al-Azhar Reaffirms Condemnation of Houthi Attacks on Makkah, Madinah

   Cairo, October 26, 2026, SPA -- Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb has reiterated his strong condemnation of ongoing Houthi attacks targeting Makkah, Madinah, and surrounding areas, as well as civilian infrastructure across Saudi Arabia. He also condemned the latest attacks targeting the two holy cities, which Saudi air defense systems successfully intercepted near the holy sites.
   In a statement issued today, he expressed his categorical rejection of any actions that would violate the sanctity of these holy sites or jeopardize the security of the Kingdom and the safety of its citizens and visitors, stating that these attacks are sinful acts and a provocation to the sentiments of nearly two billion Muslims worldwide. Furthermore, he said they constitute an assault on the nation that oversees these holy sites cherished by every Muslim.
