Thai military fires illumination round following cross-border RPG strike from Myanmar

TAK, Nov 4 (TNA) - Thai border forces launched an illumination round across the Moei River as a warning signal early Wednesday after a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) fired during armed clashes inside Myanmar hit a residential home in Tak province. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time during heavy fighting near Min La Pan village in Myawaddy, directly opposite Thailand's Mae Sot district.
One stray RPG crossed the river border and struck a home in a Thai village, causing damage to the roof and structure. In response, units from Thailand's Ratchamanu Task Force fired a single illumination round across the border to signal a warning. Military officials stated that Thai forces remain prepared to respond under standard rules of engagement should additional rounds land on Thai territory.
Despite local alarm, schools and businesses in risk areas along the border opened as scheduled in the morning. Military personnel reinforced natural border crossings and increased patrols in adjacent communities, while troops from the Naresuan Force assisted residents with house repairs following the strike.
