Catfish Dish Shows, Spectacular Scene of Rural Villages in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- There took place catfish dish shows in the rural areas across the DPRK which have introduced the method of paddy-field fish breeding.
A typical example is the catfish dish show held in the Namjang Farm, Jongphyong County, South Hamgyong Province in October.
Officials of the farm said with a smile that it was quite difficult to decide standings because many farmers prepared catfish dishes with much effort after reading cookery books or learning how to cook dishes at the public catering units. They noted that the farmers were full of confidence as they have already brought about a good catfish yield alongside a bumper rice crop from the first year of paddy-field fish farming.
The similar show took place at the Samhwa Vegetable Farm in Phyongsong City, South Phyongan Province. It was said that the visitors were struck by the skills just as good as a cook, looking at various dishes such as catfish soup, fried catfish, steamed catfish. A farmer, who was highly appreciated at the show, said that he was very pleased to make dishes with fresh catfish raised by his own efforts.
A lot of farm villages were enlivened with such informal dish shows as evidenced by a family in Kumdae-ri, Rangnang District, Pyongyang who spent a pleasant time enjoying various catfish dishes and appreciated the cooking skills of the three daughters-in-law.
It was reported that the 150-ton freezing chamber of the Samjigang Farm in Jaeryong County, South Hwanghae Province, which gave a nationwide demonstration of paddy field fish breeding in August, was full of frozen catfishes.
Its inhabitants are full of firm determination to do paddy field fish farming well next year, saying that it is the first time to directly see frozen fishes piled up mountain-high, though they have very often seen a heap of rice at fields.
It is a common practice that the farmers list the number of catfish dishes and share experience of cooking them at their break times at the Paeksok Farm in Sinchon County, South Hwanghae Province and the Suhung Farm in Hamju County, South Hamgyong Province which produced and supplied tens of kilograms of catfish to every household. -0-
