Congratulatory Letter to Participants in Tenth Congress of UAWK and All Its Members
Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent a congratulatory letter to the participants in the Tenth Congress of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK) and all its members on November 6.
The WPK Central Committee in its letter warmly congratulated the Tenth Congress of the UAWK which will serve as another milestone in the proud course towards the strengthening of the socialist rural position and steady innovations in the agricultural sector, holding high the programme for rural construction in the new era as the banner of the organization, and all the participants in the congress.
The immutable truth that rice means socialism and communism has played a role as a crucial appeal which will decide the speed and pace in the course of the advance of our state which is ushering in a historic era of comprehensive development, the letter said, and went on:
The Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea deeply realized its raison d'etre and mission in the face of the solemn demand of the times and the revolution, and brought about an improvement in ideological and moral qualities of its members and strengthened their role in every way to record the most glorious and worthwhile page of its history of guaranteeing the transition to a new phase of development.
The ranks of steadfast and reliable rural revolutionaries are steadily expanding amid the brisk field political work, revolutionary mass movement and socialist emulation to bring about a higher upsurge in production with the ever-increasing loyalty and patriotic enthusiasm among the agricultural workers, thanks to the programme for rural construction in the new era and the policy of regional development which help realize the long-cherished desire of the Korean people.
Everywhere in the country there are traces left by real peasants who are working on paddy and dry fields under rain and snow, burning sun and cold wind, regarding patriotic loyalty as the seed of genuine life free from fading and degradation under any circumstances. Their sincere beads of sweat shine in the honor of high-yielding peasants, high-yielding sub-workteams, high-yielding workteams and high-yielding farms.
The most important change in the countryside is that the militant spirit and self-confidence of those determined to open up an era when the countryside undergoes transformation as intended by the Party have been evolved into the popular thoughts and feelings and, in particular, the UAWK members have been trained to be socialist agricultural workers and patriotic peasants faithful to their class mission and duty.
The ideological, technical and cultural transformation of the countryside presents itself as an essential and key issue in strengthening our revolutionary position, promoting the comprehensive development of the state and opening up a broad prospect of our countryside, and the function and role of the UAWK are becoming more important in this regard.
The UAWK should consistently adhere to our Party's line of the three revolutions and train the agricultural workers to be those responsible for socialist rural construction and full-fledged masters of modern rural areas prepared in all aspects of ideology, technology and culture, thus writing a new page of strengthening the union.
The UAWK should, above all, conduct an innovative, creative and offensive ideological campaign, concentrating on preparing its members politically and ideologically, thus turning the whole countryside into a permanent revolutionary position of our Party and a fertile soil where the patriotic spirit is cultivated.
Our Party set it as an important task for the rural revolution to put agriculture on a modern, IT and industrial basis and, at the same time, to put the countryside on an urban, civilized and advanced basis.
The UAWK organizations should make it a new landscape of the countryside to do away with empiricism and backward farming methods, create a strong wind for establishing an enterprising and innovative viewpoint and working style, and make strenuous efforts to arm all with advanced science and technology and introduce new farming methods.
In the work for establishing the Korean-style socialist rural life culture, too, it should successfully play the role as educators and propagandists, thus bringing about a radical change in the way of thinking and life of the agricultural workers and making a great contribution to improving the appearance of the countryside.
The UAWK should extensively organize and conduct various mass movements and emulations whose validity and might have been proved in reality in order to make the whole countryside seethe with enthusiasm for increased grain production and scientific farming and bring out a series of innovations in animal husbandry, fruit farming, greenhouse vegetables and mushroom production as well as grain production.
The WPK Central Committee in its congratulatory letter expressed the firm belief that the UAWK would redouble its fighting efficiency and revolutionary stamina in the gigantic struggle for progress and transformation in the socialist countryside and thus further accelerate our cause dynamically advancing under the banner of the new programme set forth by the Ninth Congress of the WPK and make a genuine contribution to the prosperity and development of the DPRK. -0-
