AMENDED CONSTITUTION INTRODUCED TO INDONESIANS IN VIETNAM



Jakarta, July 22 (ANTARA) - Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Dr. Hidayat Nur Wahid introduced the amended 1945 Constitution to members of the Indonesian Community in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on July 18 2009, it was reported here Wednesday.

The Indonesian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City informed that Hidayat Nur Wahid was accompanied by MPR members Patrialis Akbar, Dr. Hakim Sorimuda and Hajriyanto Tasin Thohari on the occasion which was also attended by several staff members of the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi.
In his opening remarks, Wahid expressed pride about the great enthusiasm and participation of the Indonesian community in Vietnam in the amended constitution socialization which has been conducted since 2005.
The Indonesian community in Vietnam mostly consists of skilled laborers.

During his visit to Vietnam, Wahid also met with Chairperson of the People's Council in Ho Chi Minh, Ms. Pham Phuong Thao, in a state banquet .
On the occasion, Ms. Pham invited more Indonesian investors dealing with different sectors including infrastructure and property while Wahid appreciated Pham's invitation and would try to enhance the existing cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh administration.
In Ho Chi Minh, Wahid also had the opportunity to visit a center for Vietnamese historical heritage and handicraft.
