Seoul stocks open higher on foreign buying


SEOUL, July 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started higher Thursday, bolstered

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 2.34 point, or 0.16
percent, to trade at 1,496.38 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Steelmakers and financial shares led the gains, while tech shares opened lower on
profit-taking.
The local currency was trading at 1,251.65 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., down 3.65 won from Wednesday's close.
