M'SIAN INDIAN ARTISTES GET TO STUDY DANCE AND MUSIC IN INDIA
KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- Two female Malaysian Indian artistes have
been awarded scholarships to pursue dance and music studies at Annamalai
University in India, said Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia Ashok K. Kantha.
He said Jeya Sanggari has been given a scholarship for a three-year
Bachelor's programme in Dance (Bharatanatyam) while N. Nimmalarani would doing a
Bachelor's programme in Music (Vocal) at the university in Annamalai Nagar,
Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu.
He said the duo were winners of the nation-wide Dance and Music Competition
conducted by the High Commission of India in partnership with the Astro pay TV
station late last year.
"Subsequently, they were accepted for the degree programmes in Annamalai
University at the recommendation of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations"
he said in a statement here, Thursday.
