Company to suspend Yemen-France flights
PARIS, July 24 (Saba) - The Yemenia Airways
is to suspend all flights to and from France as of August 11, the company's
representative
for France, Switzerland and Belgium said on Thursday.
Faisal Amran said business
reasons were behind the decision, which comes after a sharp fall in the number of
passengers
between the two states due to reduced flights to some African states. With the
development flying through this air route becomes unprofitable, he said. A final
flight will
originate in Paris heading to Sana'a on August 10 and after it all flights shall be
suspended until further notice, he concluded. Late last month, a Yemenia flight
plunged
into the Indian Ocean off Comoros with 153 passengers and crew onboard. As search
for the black boxes continues with a French ship surveying the area where the boxes
were
earlier detected, some pieces of the airliner including large ones and only 20
bodies have been recovered so far since it came down on June 30. A sole French
teenager survived
the disaster. FR
