Lotte Shopping's net rises 19.3 pct in Q2

SEOUL, July 24 (Yonhap) -- Lotte Shopping Co., South Korea's largest department
store chain, said Friday that its second-quarter net profit rose 19.3 percent
from a year earlier on the resilient performances of its discount and supermarket
units.

Net income came to 200 billion won (US$160 million) in the April-June period,
compared with 167.8 billion won a year ago, Lotte Shopping said in a mandatory
filing.
Revenue rose 10.3 percent annually to 2.9 trillion won and operating profit
gained 11 percent to 224 billion won, it said.
Shares of Lotte Shopping ended up 2.33 percent at 286,000 won on the Korea Exchange.
