MALAYSIA TO HIGHLIGHT SELLING POINTS
FROM NIAM SEET WEI
GUANGZHOU (China), July 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysia plans to highlight the
selling points of tourist destinations to entice more Chinese tourists to visit
Malaysia, said Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen.
She said that the traditional ways of promoting Malaysia might
no longer be effective to attract Chinese tourists.
"We plan to focus on the selling points of destinations to attract
tourist.
"For instance, we could use the concept of 'island of a legend' to promote
tourism in Pulai Langkawi," Ng told reporters after attending a meeting with
Chinese travel agencies from Guangdong Province here.
Ng also said that the Tourism Ministry would include Malaysian festivals and
celebrations in travel packages.
"We could also promote Malaysian food during the month of Ramadan.Ramadan is
a special festival and the tourists can enjoy the Ramadan food," she said
Ng is here for a five-day working visit to China to promote Malaysia
as a tourism destination.
