MALAYSIA NEEDS INPUTS FROM ALL SECTORS FOR BUDGET 2010 - MINISTER
JOHOR BAHARU (Malaysia), July 24 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Government needs
inputs from all economic sectors as it prepares Budget 2010 expected to be
tabled in parliament on Oct 23, Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah
said Friday.
"Those who have inputs and constructive ideas can submit their proposals via
memorandums or paperwork to the government.
"We will study every detail as we regard this budget as the "people's
budget", he said.
He said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Tun
Razak was adopting the stand that the government "knows everything
attitude has ended". Hence, the appeal for inputs from the people.
So far, the government had received 68 memorandums to be discussed by 18
focus groups, he told reporters after handing house keys
to buyers of Uda Holdings Berhad affordable apartment units at Bandar Baru Uda.
The government yesterday met small and medium enterprise entrepreneurs, the
first focus group from 18 identified for the Focus Group Meeting for next year's
budget.
The group's grouses were mainly on financing, marketing and the cost of
doing business.
"The budget will be crucial as the government will not only try to cope
with the global economic slowdown but also to narrow the deficit below 7.6 per
cent as forecast for this year and to prepare the nation for the second phase
of global competitions when the economic slowdown is over.
“The government wants to ensure the country is ready as when this
(economic slowdown) is over, every country in the world will be putting their
best to get some space in the economic world," he said.
Asked on the goodies the people could expect from the budget, he
said it was still being formulated.
"However, for sure the government will take care of the vulnerable people's
welfare," he added.
