Isetan Mitsukoshi to open department store in Singapore in late 2010+

Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. said Friday it will open a Isetan department
store in Singapore toward the end of 2010, the first Isetan outlet to be set up
abroad since the one that began business in Shenyang, China, in February 2008.

''We aim to study a plan to open more stores in China and other Asian
countries, where business growth prospects are better than in Japan,'' a
company spokesperson said.
The new Singapore store will be a relatively small one with an area of about
5,000 square meters. It will be located in a suburban area near the island
nation's capital city, the major retailer said, adding that details including
product offerings and a sales target are to be worked out later.
Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings presides over major department store operators
including Isetan Co. and Mitsukoshi Ltd.
