Flood alert declared in a number of Chinese provinces.
BEIJING July 26 (Itar-Tass) - A flood alert has been declared in a
number of Chinese provinces hit by torrential rains.
The Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday that rains did most
extensive damage to the central province of Hunan and the eastern Jiangxi.
According to the state headquarters for flood and drought control,
five people died in the rain in Hunan province and about 64,000 local
residents were evacuated from their homes.
At the same time, rains in Jiangxi inflicted damage on 373 hectares of
farmland, with the level of precipitations in ten districts of the
province exceeding 100 mm.

TAONAN MILITARY RANGE, China, July 26 (Itar-Tass) - The servicemen of
the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China have launched a
joint anti-terrorist operation -- the concluding phase of the joint
anti-terrorist exercises Peace Mission-2009 -- in 35-degree (Celsius)
heat and cloudless sky.
While airpilots and paratroopers are gratified by such weather, this
cannot be said about the crews of the sun-heated combat vehicles of
armoured and motorised rifle units, or soldiers that follow them.
The anti-terrorist operation, which is being conducted by
Russo-Chinese combined group of troops in full complement, is being
carried out with the use of full ammunition supply.
Combat aircraft deliver bombing and rocket strikes at conventional
terrorists while helicopters fire rocket-assisted projectiles at them.
The actions of tankmen and motorised riflemen are being supported by
the fire of cannon-type and rocket artillery, mortars while air defence
systems destroy air targets.
Lying ahead is the landing of an assault landing company from a
Russian IL-76 military transportation plane, and the landing of one unit
of the company in an assault manner from a Russian Mi-8 helicopter. In
other words, fighting against small and large armed formations of
terrorists and separatists is involving all manpower and equipment
resources of all armed services and arms of troops engaging in the
operation.
