TWO INDONESIAN ROBBERS SHOT DEAD BY POLICE IN MALAYSIA
Kuala Lumpur, July 26 (ANTARA) - Two of the four Indonesian robbers had been shot dead by Malaysian police after trying to rob at the home of Malaysia's top singer Asmawi Ani, better known as Mawi, in Felda Taib, Kulaijaya, Johor Bahru.
Johor Bahru deputy police chief Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the two robbers were trying to get away on a Proton sedan of Mawi's family, but the police went after and shot them in the Fraser plantation Saturday afternoon, Utusan Malaysia reported Sunday.
The two dead robbers were identified as Marwa (30) from Batam, and Roni Aslah (29) from Tanjung Pinang, who often came to Malaysia. The police was still after the other to robbers because they managed to get away separately.
The members of the Mawi family at the home were all safe and unhurt, but Ramlah Sarlan (64), Mawi's mother, winner of AFI (Academy of Fantasy) of Malaysia, sustained light injuries after one of the robbers slashed and trying to snatch her golden bracelet.
Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the robbers ran away after them were spotted by the neighbors who were shocked by the screams of the Mawi family. They ran away in two groups, one group tried to get away by using the Proton sedan.
