TKI FROM E NUSATENGGARA CONTRACTS SWINE FLU IN MALAYSIA

Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, July 26 (ANTARA) - An Indonesian migrant worker (TKI) Gabriel Caong in Malaysia from East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province, was strongly suspected of having infected with H1N1 or the swine flu, and currently under intensive treatment at Johanis hospital in Kupang.

"Johanis hospital in Kupang is handling a patient, Gabriel Caong (39), suspected infected with the H1N1 virus when he was working in Malaysia," the hospital's director dr. Alfonsius Anapaku said here Sunday.

Anapaku said Gabriel Caong hailing from Kanada village in East Flores regency, came to Malaysia five years ago, and before arriving in Kupang, he spent three days in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

Later his temperature rose to 39.8 degrees, and decided to return to Kupang for more intensive examination at the hospital there, after which it was found that he had been infected with swine flu.

Dr. Alfons said that since the swine flu attacked various regions in Indonesia, this was the first time that the Johannis hospital received a swive flu patient.

And to make very sure that the patient had really been infected with swine flue, samples from the patient's nose droppings and threat will be sent to Sanglah hospital in Denpasar and in Jakarta on Monday.

On Saturday (July 11), the hospital in Maumere, Sikka regency, East Nusa Tenggara, had also treated Dutchman Youri Vassem Van as swine flu suspect, and 12 other patients with the symptoms. ***3***
