GOLDIS GROUP SECURES US$3.92 MLN WASTEWATER TREATMENT CONTRACT IN CHINA
KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 (Bernama) -- Goldis Water Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Goldis Bhd, has clinced a RM13.8 million (US$3.92 million)
wastewater treatment plant concession in China.
Goldis Water will operate the 25-year concession through Zoucheng Xincheng
Waste Water Co. Ltd. The concession includes the building, financing and
maintenance of the treatment plant at the Zou Cheng Industrial Park.
Zoucheng Xincheng Waste Water director Lee Choon Kok said construction
of the project would start next month.
"The plant is expected to commence operations by the end of next year," Lee
told reporters after a signing ceremony between Zoucheng Xincheng Waste Water
and the Zou Cheng Industrial Park Management Committee, here Monday.
"We will treat the wastewater from industrial users before discharging it
into the river. We have the right experience, skills and track record to
undertake a project of this size," Lee said.
Goldis's subsidiary Crest Spring (Shanghai) Co Ltd already operates two
other "build, operate, transfer" wastewater treatment concessionaires in
the Shangdong and Jiangsu provinces in China.
Both are contributing to the group earnings.
According to Lee, the total capacity of the wastewater treatment plant is
80,000 cubic metres per day with an initial phase capacity of 20,000 cubic
metres.
Asked as to whether the company was bidding for other similar projects, Lee
said:"We do have a couple of projects in the pipeline and still under
negotiation."
He also disclosed that for the time being, the company's focus would be on
China.
