1MALAYSIA CONCEPT A MAIN TOPIC FOR NEXT YEAR'S SMART PARTNERSHIP DIALOGUE IN LANGKAWI

From Newmond Tibia

MUNYONYO (Uganda), July 29 (Bernama) -- The 1Malaysia concept coined by
Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is expected to be one of the main
topics to be deliberated by heads of government and smart partners when Malaysia
hosts the Smart Partnership Dialogue in Langkawi next year.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said Malaysia would take the
opportunity to share views and experiences in uniting its people of different
races and religion.

"We will also give new experiences under the leadership of the Prime
Minister who envisioned the 1Malaysia concept. Having a conducive political
stability is a vital component that we are going to highlight in the next
dialogue," Muhyiddin told Malaysian journalists covering the ongoing Global
Smart Partnership Dialogue, here Tuesday.

However, Muhyiddin said the theme of the dialogue has not been decided while
the dates have yet to be fixed.

This year's dialogue is hosted by Uganda with the theme, "The Smart
Partnership Way for realising socio-economic transformation through regional
integration".

The dialogues are organised by the Commonwealth Partnership for Technology
Management (CPTM) together with the host government and they have been held in
Malaysia, Eastern Africa (Uganda), Southern Africa (Bostwana, Namibia, Zimbabwe,
Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho and Zambia), and the Caribbean (Barbados).

CPTM was established in 1995 at the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM)
in Auckland, New Zeland, and it has pioneered innovative ways of taking new
ideas forward in its Smart Partnership International Dialogues.
