APPRECIATE OUR WARRIORS, SAYS MALAYSIAN KING

KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal
Abidin Thursday called on all Malaysians in the spirit of 1Malaysia show their
appreciation to warriors still living or the widows and next-of-kin of those who
have perished.

He said Malaysians owed a great deal to these warriors who put their lives
on the line to defend the sovereignty of Malaysia.

"Many among them sacrificed their lives on the battlefield to protect the
freedom were are enjoying today," Tuanku Mizan said in his Warriors Day message
broadcast on the national RTM1 television channel here Thursday night.

Tuanku Mizan also praised the government for valuing their contributions and
always giving priority to the welfare of warriors and their families.

He also called on members of the security forces to follow in these warriors
footsteps towards ensuring peace and stability.

"To warriors still living but became disabled and to families who lost their
breadwinners in their (warriors') sacrifices for our beloved nation, I hope they
will be able to meet challenges that they may face with full fortitude," he
said.

Tuanku Mizan said he also hoped Malaysians would further reinforce the
warrior spirit, patriotism , loyalty and love for the nation and be willing to
sacrifice for the country when duty called.

"I also wish to see the 1Malaysia concept implemented in a comprehensive and
consistent way in all aspects of the people's lives. Let's not be caught in the
trap of preferring to see only the differences and not the things that bind us
together. Let's be builders and not destroyers," he added.
