DO NOT SOUR M'SIA-INDONESIA RELATIONS - PERMAI

KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian Society Assembly (Permai)
has urged all quarters not to sour Malaysia-Indonesia relations by exploiting
isolated cases.

Its chief Teuku Rizal Ghading said as Malaysia hosted a large number of
foreign workers, issues involving different cultures, custom, languages and
social norms between the workers and locals can happen.

Citing maid abuse as one of the isolated cases, he said let the law take its
course while the leaders of both countries solve other issues.

Speaking to reporters here Thursday, he said Permai, whose patron is
Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Dai Bachtiar, would be organising a fund
raising dinner, "Malam Titian Kasih Indonesia-Malaysia" here on Aug 15.

Teuku Rizal said the dinner, which would commemorate the 64th anniversary of
Indonesia's independent, was to raise fund for the welfare of Indonesian
community in the country.

He said tables were for sale at RM5,000 each. (US$1=RM3.52)
